About the Fiat 521

The Fiat 521 was introduced in 1928 as a larger, more powerful successor to the 520, designed to compete in the burgeoning international market for mid-to-upper class automobiles. It featured a smooth 2.5-litre side-valve inline-six engine and was offered in various body styles including the short-wheelbase 521 C and the longer 521 L. The model was significant for its mechanical refinement and was one of the first Fiats to be produced in large numbers outside of Italy, notably at the NSU-Fiat plant in Germany. Its robust chassis and reliable powertrain made it a popular choice for European coachbuilders of the era.
