About the Dodge Super Bee
Introduced in 1968 as Dodge's response to the Plymouth Road Runner, the Super Bee was a no-frills muscle car based on the Coronet. The 1969 model year saw the introduction of the hardtop body style alongside the original pillared coupe, featuring a revised grille and the iconic 'bumblebee' tail stripe. The standard 383-cubic-inch Magnum V8 was specifically tuned for the Bee, borrowing high-performance cylinder heads and a camshaft from the larger 440 Magnum. It remains a quintessential collector's muscle car, valued for its aggressive 'Scat Pack' styling and raw, unrefined driving character.
