About the Dodge St. Regis
The Dodge St. Regis was introduced in 1979 as a downsized replacement for the Monaco, built on the R-body platform. Despite being smaller than its predecessor, it arrived during the second oil crisis, which severely hampered sales of large American sedans. It is most famous for its distinctive transparent, retractable headlight covers and its heavy use in police fleets, though officers often found the emissions-choked engines underpowered for pursuit. As Chrysler's final traditional full-size rear-wheel-drive sedan of the era, it remains a rare piece of Mopar history.
