About the Dodge Monaco

The first-generation Dodge Monaco was introduced in 1965 as a flagship personal luxury car to compete with the Pontiac Grand Prix. For 1966, the line expanded to replace the Custom 880, offering a blend of full-size presence and upscale appointments. Built on the Chrysler C-body platform, it featured distinctive 'delta' taillights and a pillarless hardtop silhouette that epitomised American road-going elegance. While less aggressive than the era's dedicated muscle cars, its standard 383 cubic-inch V8 provided effortless cruising power suitable for its status as Dodge's premier offering.
