About the Dodge Intrepid LH1
Launched for the 1993 model year, the Dodge Intrepid was a cornerstone of Chrysler's 'cab-forward' design philosophy, which pushed the wheels to the corners to maximise interior volume. Built on the innovative LH platform, it featured a longitudinal engine layout despite being front-wheel drive, a configuration inspired by the Eagle Premier. The 3.3-litre OHV V6 served as the base engine, offering adequate performance for a full-sized sedan that prioritised passenger space and aerodynamic efficiency. While it was praised for its futuristic styling and class-leading legroom, early models were often hampered by reliability issues, particularly with the Ultradrive automatic transmission.
