About the Dodge Challenger
Introduced for the 1970 model year, the Dodge Challenger was Chrysler's late but formidable entry into the pony car market, sharing the E-body platform with the Plymouth Barracuda. The R/T (Road/Track) trim was the performance flagship, and while the Hemi grabbed headlines, the 440 Magnum V8 was the choice for usable street performance. It featured a longer wheelbase than the Barracuda to provide a more luxurious interior, aiming to compete with the Mercury Cougar. Today, it is a cult icon, immortalised by the white R/T driven by Kowalski in the 1971 film Vanishing Point.
