About the BMW Z3

Launched to provide the performance the original four-cylinder Z3 lacked, the 2.8 Roadster features the M52 straight-six engine and a wider rear track for a more muscular stance. It shares its basic chassis architecture with the E36 3 Series Compact, utilizing a semi-trailing arm rear suspension that gives it a classic, slightly tail-happy character. While not as focused as the later M Roadster, the 2.8 is widely considered the 'sweet spot' of the range, offering a refined touring experience with a soulful exhaust note. Its appearance in the James Bond film GoldenEye cemented the Z3's status as a pop-culture icon of the 1990s.
