About the De Tomaso Pantera GTS
Introduced in 1972, the Pantera GTS was the high-performance evolution of De Tomaso's mid-engined flagship, designed to bridge the gap between the road car and Group 3 racing variants. While the US-market GTS was largely a cosmetic package due to emissions regulations, the European GTS featured a high-compression Ford Cleveland V8 producing a potent 350 PS. It is visually distinguished by its bold two-tone black paint scheme, riveted bolt-on fender flares, and wider Campagnolo wheels. For collectors, the GTS represents the most desirable early Pantera, offering a raw, mechanical driving experience paired with Tom Tjaarda's iconic wedge styling.

De Tomaso Pantera GTS fun facts
- The European GTS used a high-compression engine (11.0:1) that was significantly more powerful than the smog-restricted versions sold in the United States.
- Only 150 genuine GTS models were officially imported to the US, making them among the rarest variants of the Ford-era production run.
- The GTS's aggressive flared arches and wider tyres were directly inspired by the Group 3 racing Panteras that competed in international GT events.
