About the Daihatsu Move L600
Designed by the I.DE.A Institute in Turin, the first-generation Daihatsu Move (L600) was a pioneer of the 'tallboy' city car segment, prioritising vertical space within a tiny footprint. While Japanese domestic models were restricted to 660cc, export versions like this 0.8-litre variant utilised the ED-20 engine for better drivability on European roads. It is noted for its exceptional headroom and a side-hinged rear door that opens like a refrigerator, though its narrow track and high centre of gravity make for a unique handling experience. Today, it is a cult classic among microcar enthusiasts for its unapologetically boxy 1990s aesthetic and clever packaging.
