About the Daewoo Tico
Based on the third-generation Suzuki Alto, the Daewoo Tico was a pivotal model for the South Korean brand's expansion into emerging markets. It became a common sight across Eastern Europe and Latin America due to its extreme affordability, simple mechanicals, and impressive fuel economy. While dynamically basic and lacking modern safety features, its lightweight construction allowed the tiny 796cc engine to provide adequate urban performance. It was eventually succeeded by the more modern Matiz, though production continued in some regions until the early 2000s.
