About the Mitsubishi Toppo
The 2008 Mitsubishi Toppo marked the return of the 'Toppo' nameplate, replacing the Minica Toppo and Toppo BJ. Built on the chassis of the Mitsubishi eK, it features a distinctive 'tall boy' design with a significantly raised roofline to maximise interior vertical space. While the 660 trim uses a naturally aspirated 3G83 three-cylinder engine designed for urban efficiency rather than speed, its upright glasshouse provides excellent visibility. It remains a popular choice for enthusiasts of Japanese kei cars due to its quirky proportions and immense practicality within a tiny footprint.

Mitsubishi Toppo fun facts
- The name 'Toppo' is a portmanteau of the English word 'Top' and the Japanese word 'Noppo', which means tall or lanky.
- Despite its small exterior dimensions, the Toppo's interior height was designed to be class-leading, allowing for the transport of tall items that wouldn't fit in standard hatchbacks.
- The 2008 revival model shared many internal components and doors with the Mitsubishi eK to reduce production costs.
