About the Daewoo Musso
The Daewoo Musso is a rebadged version of the SsangYong Musso, produced during the brief period when Daewoo owned a controlling stake in its rival. It is best known for its Mercedes-Benz-sourced OM662 diesel engine, which earned a reputation for exceptional durability and the ability to run on alternative fuels like vegetable oil. Styled by Ken Greenley of the Royal College of Art, the Musso featured a raked windscreen and sleek lines that were unconventional for 1990s SUVs. While it lacks the refinement of contemporary European rivals, its robust body-on-frame construction and 3.5-tonne towing capacity make it a capable, if slow, workhorse.
