About the Daewoo Korando
The second-generation Korando was originally launched by SsangYong before being rebranded as a Daewoo between 1999 and 2001 following a corporate takeover. Its distinctive, polarizing styling was penned by British designer Ken Greenley, intended to evoke the spirit of the original Willys Jeep. The vehicle's primary selling point was its Mercedes-Benz sourced 2.9-litre five-cylinder turbodiesel engine, which offered renowned durability if not rapid performance. While its on-road manners are unrefined by modern standards, its body-on-frame construction and low-range transfer case make it a surprisingly capable budget off-roader.
