About the Citroën C5 Mk1
The first-generation Citroën C5 replaced both the Xantia and the XM, serving as the brand's flagship large family car. It is best known for its Hydractive 3 suspension system, which automatically adjusts ride height and stiffness based on speed and road conditions to provide a 'magic carpet' ride. The 2.0 HDi engine was the volume seller, praised for its refinement and long-distance cruising capability. While its styling was considered conservative compared to previous Citroëns, its interior space and comfort levels were class-leading.
