About the Chrysler Voyager AS
The second-generation Chrysler Voyager, designated the AS platform, arrived in 1991 as a significant evolution of the original minivan concept. While it retained the K-car-derived architecture, it introduced a more aerodynamic 'wedge' profile and improved safety features, including the first driver-side airbag in a minivan. The 3.3-litre V6 engine provided a smooth, torque-rich power delivery suited for long-distance cruising, paired exclusively with the four-speed 'Ultradrive' automatic transmission. In Europe, it was marketed as a premium family vehicle, often featuring higher trim levels than its North American Dodge and Plymouth siblings.
