About the Chrysler 180

The Chrysler 180 was the result of the ill-fated 'C-Car' project, intended to unify Chrysler's European subsidiaries, Rootes Group and Simca. While designed in the UK with American styling cues, production was moved to France, leading to a car that felt somewhat homeless in the European market. The 1.8-litre overhead-cam engine was a highlight, offering decent performance for the era, though the car struggled to compete with established rivals from Ford and Rover. Today, it is a rare sight on European roads, valued by enthusiasts for its unusual 'orphan' brand history and plush, American-influenced interior.
