About the Caterham Seven JPE
The Caterham Seven JPE (Jonathan Palmer Evolution) was launched in 1992 as the ultimate expression of the Seven, developed in collaboration with the former F1 driver. It features a 2.0-litre Vauxhall 'Red Top' engine tuned by Swindon Racing Engines to BTCC specifications, producing a remarkable 250 bhp in a chassis weighing just 530 kg. Stripped of its windscreen in favour of a carbon-fibre aeroscreen and finished in signature fluorescent yellow, it famously set a Guinness World Record for the fastest-accelerating production car, beating the Ferrari F40 to 60 mph. Only 53 units were produced, making it one of the most sought-after and visceral models in Caterham's history.

Rarity is a collectible game mechanic, not an assessment of real-world scarcity or value.
Caterham Seven JPE fun facts
- The JPE's 0-60 mph time of 3.46 seconds was a world record for an unmodified production car until it was eventually beaten by the McLaren F1.
- The car's distinctive fluorescent yellow paint and graphics were inspired by the livery of Jonathan Palmer's own racing helmet.
- To save weight, Caterham offered the JPE without paint, which supposedly shaved off a further 2 kg from the already featherweight chassis.
