About the Cadillac Series 62
The 1946 Series 62 marked Cadillac's triumphant return to civilian production, essentially refining the 1942 design that had been interrupted by the war. It is powered by the legendary 346-cubic-inch 'Monobloc' flathead V8, an engine so robust it was used to power M5 Stuart tanks during the conflict. While the chassis and engine were prewar carryovers, the styling by Harley Earl and Bill Mitchell introduced the 'bullet' fender look that would define the era. Most examples were equipped with the pioneering Hydra-Matic automatic transmission, cementing Cadillac's reputation for effortless luxury and technical sophistication in the early postwar market.
