About the Austin A105 Westminster
Introduced in 1956 as the flagship of the Westminster range, the A105 was a more powerful and better-equipped alternative to the A90 and A95. It featured a twin-SU carburettor version of the 2.6-litre C-Series engine, the same unit found in the Austin-Healey 100-Six, making it a surprisingly capable long-distance cruiser. The 1957 model benefited from the longer wheelbase and revised 'long-tail' bodywork introduced in late 1956, which improved rear passenger space and stability. Distinguished by its two-tone paint and whitewall tyres, the A105 offered a level of opulence and performance that briefly positioned Austin as a rival to Rover and Jaguar.
