About the Cadillac Series 62
The 1959 Cadillac Series 62 represents the absolute zenith of the American 'Tailfin Era'. Designed under Harley Earl, it is instantly recognisable for its towering 42-inch rear fins and iconic dual 'bullet' taillights. Beneath the flamboyant chrome-heavy exterior, the Series 62 featured a new 390 cubic-inch V8 and a refined X-frame chassis that provided a remarkably smooth, if somewhat detached, driving experience. While the Eldorado models were more exclusive, the Series 62 was the volume leader that brought this extravagant styling to the American driveway. Today, it is considered the definitive cultural icon of 1950s Americana.
