About the Cadillac CTS-V
The first-generation CTS-V was Cadillac's bold entry into the high-performance luxury saloon market, designed to challenge the BMW M5 and Mercedes-AMG E-Class. It borrowed the 5.7-litre LS6 V8 and Tremec six-speed manual transmission directly from the Corvette C5 Z06, marking a radical departure from Cadillac's traditional luxury focus. Built on the Sigma architecture, it featured Brembo brakes and a suspension tuned at the Nürburgring, where it recorded a sub-8:20 lap time. While the interior was often criticised for its plastic-heavy design, the raw performance and rear-wheel-drive dynamics established the V-Series as a legitimate enthusiast brand.
