About the Bristol 412

The Bristol 412 Series 2 represents a unique collaboration between the Filton-based manufacturer and Carrozzeria Zagato. Introduced in late 1977, the Series 2 replaced the heavy 6.6-litre 'B' series engine with a lighter 5.9-litre Chrysler 'LA' V8, improving weight distribution and handling. Its distinctive 'breeze block' styling features a massive roll-over bar and a versatile two-part roof consisting of a removable targa panel and a folding rear section. Hand-built in tiny numbers, it remains one of the most visually eccentric and exclusive British luxury cars of its era.

Rarity is a collectible game mechanic, not an assessment of real-world scarcity or value.

Bristol 412 fun facts

  • The 412's body was designed by Giuseppe Mittino at Zagato and was initially built in Italy before production moved entirely to Bristol's Filton factory.
  • Despite its angular, modern appearance, the 412 sat on a chassis with a 9-foot 6-inch wheelbase that could trace its lineage back to the Bristol 400 of 1946.
  • The Series 2 is easily distinguished from the Series 1 by its framed door glass and the use of 'Bristol' script badges instead of the traditional Pegasus emblem.
