About the BMW X6 E71
The E71 BMW X6 was a controversial pioneer, blending the high-riding stance of an SUV with a fastback roofline to create the 'Sports Activity Coupé' niche. The xDrive35d variant utilised the acclaimed M57 twin-turbocharged diesel engine, offering a potent mix of low-end torque and relative efficiency. It introduced Dynamic Performance Control, a torque-vectoring rear differential that significantly improved agility for a vehicle of its mass. While critics initially questioned its compromised rear headroom and cargo space, its commercial success forced competitors to follow suit.
