About the Chevrolet TrailBlazer
The first-generation Chevrolet TrailBlazer arrived for the 2002 model year as a clean-sheet replacement for the aging S-10 Blazer, moving to the more robust GMT360 body-on-frame platform. It was notable for its sophisticated all-aluminium 'Vortec 4200' inline-six engine, which featured dual overhead cams and variable valve timing—a rarity for American trucks at the time. This engine was so well-regarded it won a spot on Ward's 10 Best Engines list for four consecutive years. While it offered a comfortable ride and class-leading power, its soft suspension and recirculating-ball steering meant it prioritised cruising comfort over handling precision.

- The model was briefly sold in the UK through Cadillac and Chevrolet dealerships, though it remained a rare sight on British roads due to its high fuel consumption.
