About the BMW 507
Conceived by Max Hoffman to bridge the gap between MG and Mercedes-Benz, the BMW 507 is one of the most beautiful cars ever made. Designed by Albrecht von Goertz, its hand-formed aluminium body and all-alloy V8 engine made it prohibitively expensive, costing double its target price. This financial failure nearly led to BMW's collapse, but its legacy as a design icon was cemented by famous owners like Elvis Presley. Today, it is the most coveted post-war BMW, prized for its elegant proportions and rarity.

Rarity is a collectible game mechanic, not an assessment of real-world scarcity or value.
BMW 507 fun facts
- Elvis Presley bought two 507s while stationed in Germany; he famously had his white car repainted red to hide lipstick marks left by fans.
- Because the bodies were hand-beaten from aluminium, no two 507s are exactly alike, and parts like the hardtop are not interchangeable between cars.
- The 507 was so expensive to produce that BMW lost money on every single unit sold, leading to a total production of just 252 cars.
