About the BMW 1 Series M Coupe
The BMW 1 Series M Coupé, often called the 1M, was a skunkworks project that became a modern legend. Built using a 'parts bin' approach, it borrowed the suspension, brakes, and differential from the E92 M3, resulting in a significantly wider track than the standard 1 Series. It was the first M car to feature a turbocharged engine—the N54 straight-six—and was famously offered only with a six-speed manual gearbox. Originally intended as a limited run of 2,700 units, overwhelming demand led BMW to more than double production, yet it remains one of the most sought-after modern M cars for its raw, analogue driving experience.
