About the Bedford Midi
Launched in 1984 to supplement the ageing CF range, the Bedford Midi was a badge-engineered version of the Isuzu Fargo. It was produced by IBC Vehicles, a joint venture between General Motors and Isuzu, at the historic Luton plant. The 2.0-litre naturally aspirated diesel was the economy-focused choice, offering better fuel efficiency than the larger CF but with modest performance. While it lacked the character of earlier British Bedfords, its compact dimensions and sliding side door made it a practical urban delivery tool. Today, survivors are rare and increasingly sought after by classic commercial enthusiasts.
