About the Mercedes-Benz MB100
The Mercedes-Benz MB100 (W631) was a light commercial van produced by Mercedes-Benz España in Vitoria-Gasteiz. Derived from the earlier DKW-based F1000L, it featured a space-efficient cab-over design and a front-wheel-drive layout that was unusual for Mercedes vans of the era. Powered by the legendary OM616 diesel engine, it was prized for its durability and simple tubular frame construction, though it gained a reputation in Northern Europe for being slow and prone to rust. It served as the predecessor to the Vito and remains a cult choice for camper conversions due to its square, high-volume interior.
