About the Vauxhall Midi
The Vauxhall Midi was a badge-engineered version of the Isuzu Fargo, produced at the IBC Vehicles plant in Luton. Originally launched under the Bedford brand, it transitioned to the Vauxhall marque in 1990 as General Motors phased out the Bedford name for light commercials. The 2.0 D variant utilized a robust Isuzu-sourced diesel engine, known for its longevity if not its refinement. Its forward-control layout, where the driver sits directly over the front axle, provided excellent cargo space for its footprint but made for a noisy, utilitarian driving experience. Today, survivors are rare due to severe rust issues, making well-preserved examples a curiosity for van enthusiasts.
