About the Vauxhall Rascal
The Vauxhall Rascal was a rebadged version of the Suzuki Super Carry, produced at the IBC Vehicles plant in Luton following the discontinuation of the Bedford brand in 1990. Despite its diminutive kei-car proportions, it offered a surprising 2.6 cubic metres of load space and a payload capacity of over 500kg, making it a favourite for urban trades and small businesses. Its mid-mounted 970cc Suzuki F10A engine provided robust reliability, though its high centre of gravity and narrow track made for a 'lively' driving experience at speed. Today, the Rascal has gained a cult following among classic commercial collectors and campervan converters.

Vauxhall Rascal fun facts
- The Rascal was built at the IBC Vehicles plant in Luton, a joint venture between General Motors and Isuzu, alongside its Suzuki Super Carry twin.
- Because of its narrow width and light weight, the Rascal was famously prone to tipping if cornered too aggressively, leading to a 'two-wheel' reputation among delivery drivers.
- The engine is located under the front seats, which can be tilted forward to provide access for maintenance.
