About the Bedford Chevanne

The Bedford Chevanne was a light commercial vehicle based on the Vauxhall Chevette, sharing its front-end styling and mechanical components. It featured a flat load floor and a top-hinged rear tailgate, making it a popular choice for small businesses and the Post Office. Unlike many contemporary vans, it utilised the Chevette's coil-sprung rear suspension, providing significantly better ride quality and handling than leaf-sprung rivals. Today, it is a rare sight on British roads, as high work cycles and rust have claimed the majority of the original production run.
