About the Audi S5 8T
Launched in 2007 as the performance flagship of the new A5 range, the S5 Coupé was the only variant of its generation to feature the naturally aspirated 4.2-litre FSI V8. Designed by Walter de Silva, it debuted the Modular Longitudinal Platform (MLP) which moved the engine further back to improve weight distribution and reduce Audi's traditional understeer. While later S5 models moved to supercharged and turbocharged V6 engines, the original V8 is prized by collectors for its linear power delivery and guttural exhaust note. It remains a highly capable grand tourer, combining Quattro all-weather security with a high-quality interior that set the benchmark for its era.
