About the Chevrolet Corvette C5

The C5 generation represented a clean-sheet redesign for the Corvette, introducing the legendary LS1 V8 and a rear-mounted transaxle for near-perfect 50/50 weight distribution. Its hydroformed steel chassis was significantly stiffer than the C4, allowing for a more refined ride and sharper handling. The 2001 model year benefited from a power bump to 350 hp and the introduction of the Z06's intake manifold. As the last Corvette to feature pop-up headlights, it remains a landmark of turn-of-the-century American performance, offering genuine supercar-baiting speed for a fraction of the cost.
