About the Nissan 370Z Z34
The Nissan 370Z (Z34) arrived in 2009 as a sharper, more compact successor to the 350Z, featuring a shorter wheelbase and a more powerful 3.7-litre VQ37VHR engine. It was the first production car to feature SynchroRev Match, a system that automatically blips the throttle during downshifts for smoother gear changes. While its long production run meant it eventually felt dated compared to turbocharged rivals, it remained a favourite for its linear power delivery and mechanical purity. For collectors, the early Z34 models represent a high-water mark for naturally aspirated Japanese sports cars before the industry shifted toward forced induction.

Nissan 370Z Z34 fun facts
- The 370Z's wheelbase is actually 100mm shorter than the 350Z it replaced, a rare move in an industry where cars typically grow larger with each generation.
- Its VQ37VHR engine was the first from Nissan to use Variable Valve Event and Lift (VVEL) technology, allowing for a high 7,500 rpm redline.
- The instrument cluster is attached to the steering column, so the gauges move with the wheel to ensure they are never obscured by the rim.
