About the Jaguar XKR X100
The XKR (X100) was Jaguar's high-performance evolution of the XK8, designed to evoke the spirit of the legendary E-Type while providing modern grand touring luxury. Powered by a supercharged 4.0-litre AJ-V8, it delivered effortless torque and a distinctive whine from its Eaton blower, paired with a robust Mercedes-sourced 5G-Tronic gearbox. While its platform was derived from the older XJS, the XKR featured Computer Active Technology Suspension (CATS) to balance supple ride quality with improved body control. Collectors value the X100 for its timeless Geoff Lawson-penned curves and its status as the first of the modern supercharged Jaguar 'R' cars.

Jaguar XKR X100 fun facts
- The XKR's 4.0-litre engine originally used Nikasil cylinder liners, which were prone to failure from high-sulphur fuel until Jaguar switched to steel liners in late 2000.
- Unlike the naturally aspirated XK8 which used a ZF gearbox, the supercharged XKR utilized a heavy-duty Mercedes-Benz 5G-Tronic transmission to handle the extra torque.
- The X100 generation shares its basic chassis architecture with the Aston Martin DB7, a legacy of their shared development under Ford ownership.
