About the AMC AMX
The AMC AMX was a unique proposition in the American market, being one of only two steel-bodied two-seaters alongside the Chevrolet Corvette. By shortening the Javelin's wheelbase by 12 inches and removing the rear seats, AMC created a compact, agile muscle car with a high power-to-weight ratio. The 390 cubic-inch V8 was the range-topping engine, featuring a forged steel crankshaft and connecting rods for enhanced durability. While it lacked the brand prestige of its Big Three rivals, the AMX earned respect through its genuine sports car handling and record-breaking endurance runs at the hands of Craig Breedlove.
