About the Wolseley 2200 18-22 Series
The Wolseley 2200 was the luxury flagship of the BMC/British Leyland 'Wedge' series, launched in March 1975 to replace the 18/85. It featured the E-series straight-six engine mounted transversely, a rare configuration that provided smooth power delivery and exceptional interior space. The Wolseley variant was distinguished by its traditional illuminated grille badge, wood-veneer dashboard, and velour upholstery. However, its life was short-lived; just six months after its debut, British Leyland rebranded the entire range under the Princess name, making the 2200 the very last car to wear the Wolseley badge.
