About the Wolseley 1100 ADO16
The Wolseley 1100 was the upmarket 'badge-engineered' sibling of the ubiquitous Austin and Morris 1100, part of the revolutionary ADO16 family. Launched in 1965, it combined Alec Issigonis's space-efficient front-wheel-drive layout and Hydrolastic suspension with a traditional Wolseley illuminated grille and a walnut-veneered dashboard. While it shared the twin-carburettor engine of the MG 1100, it was tuned for refinement rather than outright sportiness. Today, it is a rare and charming alternative to the more common ADO16 variants, though survivors are few due to the model's notorious susceptibility to corrosion.
