About the MG 1100
The MG 1100 was the sporting variant of the revolutionary ADO16 platform, designed by Alec Issigonis and styled by Pininfarina. It featured the innovative Hydrolastic interconnected fluid suspension, providing a remarkably level and smooth ride for a small car. Distinguished by its traditional MG vertical-slat grille and twin SU carburetors, it offered more power than its Austin and Morris siblings. While once Britain's best-selling car range, survivors are now rare due to corrosion issues, making well-preserved examples highly prized by collectors for their clever packaging and surprisingly modern road manners.
