About the Vauxhall Wyvern L-Type
The L-Type Wyvern was Vauxhall's first post-war design, launched alongside the six-cylinder Velox to restart civilian production. It utilised a pre-war 1.4-litre engine and floorpan but featured a modernised body with a prominent 'mini-Chevrolet' aesthetic, reflecting General Motors' ownership. While underpowered by modern standards, it was praised for its fuel economy and comfortable ride, thanks to its independent front suspension. Today, it is a rare sight on British roads, as the majority of production was exported to support the UK's post-war recovery.
