About the Vauxhall Movano A
Launched in 1998, the Vauxhall Movano A was the result of a strategic partnership between General Motors and Renault, sharing its platform with the second-generation Renault Master. The 2.5 D variant served as the entry-level naturally aspirated diesel option, prioritising mechanical simplicity and low running costs over outright performance. It offered a significant step up in load capacity and cabin ergonomics compared to the ageing Bedford-derived vans it replaced. While the 80 hp output was modest for its size, the Movano became a staple of British fleets due to its versatile body configurations and front-wheel-drive layout, which allowed for a lower load floor.
