About the DFSK Loadhopper
The DFSK Loadhopper was introduced to the UK market in 2011 as a successor to the Suzuki Carry and Piaggio Porter microvans. Built by Dongfeng Sokon (DFSK) in China and imported by Vestatec, it targeted urban businesses requiring a small footprint and high manoeuvrability. The 1.3-litre petrol engine, introduced as an upgrade to the original 1.0-litre unit, provided a modest 77 hp, making it suitable for short-haul city deliveries rather than motorway cruising. Its spartan interior and lack of power steering in early models reflected its budget-focused utility, though it gained a following for its versatility in van, pick-up, and tipper configurations.
