About the TVR Griffith
The Griffith 500 represents the pinnacle of TVR's most successful model, combining a lightweight glass-reinforced plastic body with a potent 5.0-litre version of the Rover V8. Launched in 1993, the 500 addressed the demand for even more power, featuring a Borg-Warner T5 gearbox to handle the increased torque. It is celebrated for its lack of electronic driver aids, offering a raw and visceral driving experience that requires respect. The design remains one of Peter Wheeler's most enduring achievements, blending classic proportions with a minimalist, organic aesthetic.

TVR Griffith fun facts
- The Griffith 500 was so fast for its era that it could out-accelerate a contemporary Ferrari 512 TR to 60 mph.
- Early Griffith 500s used the Rover LT77 gearbox, but this was quickly replaced by the stronger Borg-Warner T5 unit to cope with the 350 lb-ft of torque.
- The model name was a tribute to Jack Griffith, the American dealer who originally shoehorned Ford V8 engines into TVR Grantura chassis in the 1960s.
