About the TVR 400SE
The TVR 400SE represents the final, most refined iteration of the 'Wedge' series before the brand transitioned to the curvaceous Griffith. Powered by a 4.0-litre version of the venerable Rover V8, it delivered a significant performance leap over the earlier 350i, housed in a body featuring a more rounded nose and integrated underbody aerodynamics. Despite its aggressive looks and 'widowmaker' reputation, the 400SE offered a more mature interior and improved cooling over its predecessors. For collectors, it remains a visceral, analogue experience defined by its thunderous exhaust note and lightweight fibreglass construction.

TVR 400SE fun facts
- The 400SE's distinctive door mirrors were actually sourced from the Citroën CX, a common practice for low-volume British manufacturers at the time.
- To manage the heat generated by the larger 4.0L V8, TVR added an asymmetrical vent to the bonnet, which became a signature styling cue of the late Wedge models.
- The 400SE was the last of the Wedges; only 242 were produced before TVR moved production to the more successful Griffith and Chimaera models.
