About the TVR 420 SEAC
The 420 SEAC (Special Edition Aramid Composite) was developed as a homologation special to allow TVR to compete in the Production Sports Car Championship. It featured a radical body constructed partly from Kevlar and carbon fibre, saving approximately 100kg over the standard glassfibre 'Wedge' models while significantly increasing rigidity. Under the bonnet, the Rover-derived V8 was bored out to 4.2 litres and blueprinted to produce a reliable 300bhp, making it one of the fastest British cars of its era. Its aggressive styling, defined by a massive rear wing and a deep front air dam, was so effective on track that the car was eventually banned from its racing series for being too dominant.

TVR 420 SEAC rarity in CarSpot
The TVR 420 SEAC is a Unicorn card in CarSpot, with a rarity score of 100 out of 100. The rarest tier: hypercars, one-offs and cars built in tiny numbers, typically fewer than about 500. A Unicorn card is worth 320 XP.
Each model's tier starts from a 0–100 score based on its value plus its power or production numbers. Once enough players have spotted a model, how often it is spotted can move it up or down one tier. How CarSpot rarity works
Rarity is a collectible game mechanic, not an assessment of real-world scarcity or value.
TVR 420 SEAC fun facts
- The 'SEAC' acronym stands for Special Edition Aramid Composite, referring to the Kevlar-infused bodywork used to reduce weight.
- Only the first 8 to 10 cars featured full Kevlar bodies; later examples used a mix of glassfibre and carbon fibre due to the high cost and difficulty of working with Aramid.
- The racing version was so successful it won 21 out of 24 races in the 1986/87 season before being banned for failing to meet the 200-unit homologation requirement.
