About the Triumph TR7
Launched in 1975 to replace the TR6, the Triumph TR7 was a radical departure from the traditional British roadster, featuring a futuristic wedge-shaped monocoque body designed by Harris Mann. It was powered by a 2.0-litre slant-four engine derived from the Dolomite, initially paired with a four-speed gearbox before the five-speed unit became standard in 1979. Despite being plagued by industrial unrest and quality control issues at the Speke factory, the TR7 was praised for its modern handling and comfortable, spacious cabin. Today, it is increasingly appreciated as a usable classic that offers a distinct 1970s aesthetic and a more refined driving experience than its predecessors.
