About the Triumph Toledo

Launched in 1970 as a more affordable alternative to the front-wheel-drive Triumph 1300, the Toledo returned to a traditional rear-wheel-drive layout to reduce production costs. Despite its budget positioning, it retained a high-quality interior with a real wood dashboard and was praised for its refinement and sharp Michelotti styling. The 1.3-litre Standard SC engine provided modest but reliable performance, making it a popular choice for families and now a sought-after entry-level classic. It was eventually replaced by the Dolomite 1300 in 1976, which utilised the same engine in a longer-tailed body.
