About the Toyota Tacoma N300
The third-generation Tacoma was unveiled at the January 2015 North American International Auto Show and went on sale in the US in September 2015 as a 2016 model, built in Texas until 2021 and in Mexico until 2023. It rides on Toyota's F2 platform, shared with the 4Runner, and its 3.5-litre 2GR-FKS V6 replaced the old 4.0, combining port and direct injection with the ability to run a simulated Atkinson cycle. The TRD Off-Road Double Cab adds Bilstein dampers and an electronically locking rear differential, and with four-wheel drive and the six-speed automatic it also gets Multi-Terrain Select and Crawl Control, while manual versions get Active Traction Control instead. A 2020 facelift added Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus a power-adjustable driver's seat on SR5 and higher trims. US sales grew from 191,631 in 2016 to a peak of 252,490 in 2021.
