About the Toyota Prius Plus
Introduced in 2011 as the Prius+ in Europe and the Prius v in North America, this model expanded the Prius family into the MPV segment. It was the first non-plug-in Toyota hybrid to use a compact lithium-ion battery pack, which was cleverly relocated to the centre console to allow for a third row of seats. While it shares the 1.8-litre Hybrid Synergy Drive powertrain with the standard third-generation Prius, it features a longer wheelbase and a taller, more upright rear profile for significantly increased cargo capacity. It remains a popular choice for families and taxi operators due to its legendary reliability and low urban running costs.

Toyota Prius Plus fun facts
- The Prius+ was the first full hybrid seven-seater available in Europe, achieved by moving the battery from the boot to between the front seats.
- Despite its larger size, it maintained a low drag coefficient of 0.28, helping it achieve sub-100g/km CO2 emissions at launch.
- In the UK, the higher-spec T Spirit trim actually had higher CO2 emissions (101g/km) than the base T4 (96g/km) due to its larger 17-inch wheels.
