About the Toyota Previa XR10
The first-generation Toyota Previa, known as the XR10, is one of the most uniquely engineered mass-market vehicles of the 1990s. Designed to maximise interior space, it features a mid-mounted engine canted at 75 degrees beneath the front seats, providing a flat floor and near 50/50 weight distribution. While its futuristic 'egg' styling was polarising at launch, it has since gained a cult following for its car-like handling and legendary Toyota reliability. The 2.4-litre 2TZ-FE engine is accessed via a floor panel, while all major accessories are driven by a separate shaft and located under the front hood for easier maintenance.
